We recently had a new alarm installed and we got a letter through our door to inform us that we couldn't count on the police to be there because 90% of alarm calls are false.

To be honest, this left me feeling I had no security and I really lost my confidence i the police. I think to myself would my house getting broken into be a priority? Probably not. All I know is, I feel as though I am at the bottom of their list.

Suggestion

I know the police are over stretched. I really object to the police putting drunks at the top of their priority list. Peoples safety is much more important! The fact all their energy goes on sniffer dogs to find a little bit of hash is ridiculous! What's that all about? This greatly undermines peoples faith in the police.

Saturday night brawls and drinking is the nations responsibility! We have to be thinking about education. We need to fix this. Our drinking culture is using up all the police resources and it's not right.

Police Response: Re: Bottom Of Your List

Hello, thanks so much for getting in touch. I was disheartened to hear the advice you received from your alarm company and can only tell you that the information they gave is not true in the slightest. Every alarm call is dealt with as a high priority as each call can only be established as being false once we arrive. Housebreakings, again, are a major priority to the Police. I pray that you never have to call us to report such, but if you did I can assure you it would be top of the proverbial list certainly not bottom.

If you feel you'd like to pop in and chat about your concerns you would be most welcome. Thanks again for your comments, I really hope I have gone at least a little way to put your mind at ease.

In retrospect, perhaps I ought to have included this helpful link in my earlier comment. http://www.centralscotland.police.uk/faq/house_alarms.php

"and it's not right"?? ...Uh-huh! Now the reality-check. May I remind you that it was an alarm you purchased, NOT
the police force! Amidst your rambling theories, you even answer your own grievance in correctly stating some "90% of alarm calls are false" and that police are over-stretched"!
I'm all for people expressing an opinion, but please... at least make it a valid one!
